For the SmartInspect 1.2 release we focused on a new Redistributable Console, .NET 2.0 support, Visual Studio 2005 and Eclipse integration.

Redistributable Console

An often requested feature is a Console edition for distribution to end-users. SmartInspect 1.2 is the first version to include a new Redistributable Console which can be shipped with your applications to your users.

.NET 2.0 support

Now that Microsoft has released .NET 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005, SmartInspect 1.2 ships with a new .NET 2.0 library and Visual Studio 2005 integration. It is now possible to use SmartInspect together with .NET 2.0.

Eclipse integration

The SmartInspect setup now generates a user library which can be imported in Eclipse 3.x. This makes it even easier to use SmartInspect with Eclipse.

Enable and disable logging per session

With the new Active property of a SmartInspect session, it is now possible to enable and disable logging per session. This is especially useful for client/server applications where you want to enable logging for a specific client connection.

Bug fixes and smaller changes

• Create, edit and delete views via the category toolbox popup menu
• View the current TCP connection count in the Console status bar
• Improved logging performance in all three libraries
• When the Windows Explorer and taskbar crash, the SmartInspect tray icon is restored correctly
• Fixed wrong values in the Console when time difference or offset are very large
• Escaping characters in viewers correctly now
